DECIBELICS BIGKLONE™ PROFESSIONAL OVERDRIVE

Handcrafted from carefully selected parts with extreme attention to detail, the Decibelics Big Klone is a part-for-part replica of the legendary Klon Centaur Professional Overdrive. It includes the same hard-to-find parts as the original and the acclaimed Decibelics Golden Horse, such as the New Old Stock Panasonic ECQ-Series capacitors and the 1N34A N.O.S. Germanium Diodes. It also uses the same combination of carbon and metal film resistors, the tantalum cap, and through-hole electrolytics. Circuit and component values are exact sonic reproduction of an original gold Klon Centaur, horsie close-tail, serial number #2505 from 2001 of my particular collection – a selected best tone unit.

Inside the Big Klone, you will find a Bass Switch and a Clipping Switch. With all switches to the left (Default Original mode) the Centaur core tone remains unaltered – Original sound. With BASS switch set to the right, the Bass Boost is activated, adding significant low-end content while still keeping everything tight and articulate, which will be appreciated by single coil players. With the CLIPPING switch set to the right, the original Germanium diodes are replaced by a combination of Schottky and Low Fv LED, resulting in a more open, agressive distortion.

Specs:

+ Exact sonic reproduction of my original gold Klon Centaur, horsie close-tail, serial number 2505 from 2001. Among my Silver and Gold originals, this particular unit was undoubtedly the one with the best tone.
+ Handcrafted one by one, using vintage through-hole components, with extreme dedication. Fruit of years of experience studying the circuit and building Klones for professional guitar players.
+ Same Panasonic ECQ-Series N.O.S. capacitors as the original Centaur
+ Same N.O.S. 1N34A Germanium diodes (Clear crystal and black band as the original, made in USA) – The commonly known as Magic Diodes (No russian blue and red stripped diodes as others mount– Same as the original!)
+ Same combination of carbon and metal film resistors
+ Same Tantalum capacitor in position C16
+ Same format on capacitors in values above 1uf -Electrolytics,  using modern, not-drained, Nichicon Gold Audio series.
+ Same Charge Pump that raises internal voltage from 9V to 18V for bigger headroom
+ Same values and highest quality in the other components: Opamps TL072 from Texas Instruments, noiseless Charge Pump from superior quality, Alpha potentiometers, Footswitch Alpha DPDT Special Edition, Amphenol jacks
+ Buffered bypass, same as the original, with correct values
+ PCB board of my own design, with parasitic noise level optimization

The Big Klone uses a ‘Vintage Style’ 3.5mm DC jack just like the original Centaur. An external adapter to a modern standard BOSS-Style 2.1mm 9VDC plug is included with the pedal. 

Never power the unit with more than 9V, as doing so will damage board components.

I ship from Barcelona, Spain (Europe) – I use UPS, FedEx, and Correos Express. Tracked and Insured. Transit time is usually less than a week, but may vary depending on the destination country.

The Big Klone is offered in Gold and Silver finishes. Just like the original Centaurs, both finishes may feature imperfections such as paint blemishes, scratches, or small dents, which gives them a more ‘authentic’ look. If you prefer a perfectly flawless enclosure, this may not be the best fit for you.

The option to assemble client-provided enclosures, which was available during the first run of Big Klones years ago, is no longer available.

The ‘new’ 2024 BigKlone is made with the exact same specs and components as the ‘first run’ BigKlone. There is absolutely zero differences between the first and the current runs.

ONLY MADE TO ORDER

Each pedal is hand-soldered and assembled by hand, one at a time, and then I test it against my original Klon Centaur Gold. As soon as you place your pre-order, I’ll start building your pedal. I’ll test it, pack it up, and ship it out within the timeframe you’ll see in the description for each version. In most cases I ship a bit ahead of schedule, so if you are in the process of moving by the time your pedal is being built, let me know beforehand.

I PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT

I do not do temporary sales or discounts, so no single Big Klone will be sold cheaper than you paid for it, ever.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

+ Every pedal is custom signed with the name of the customer on the inner side of the rear plate. Please note that I will write the name that appears on billing address – If you want me to write another name, let me know in the order notes or drop me a message guillem @ decibelics.com

+ You can ask for a picture of your pedal next to the original gold Klon Centaur before it’s shipped to you.

+ I ship from Barcelona, Spain (Europe) – I use UPS, Fedex, and Correos. Tracked and Insured. I use Express shipping only – It costs just a tad more but it’s well worth it: much faster and trouble-free. You are buying a Premium pedal and you’ll get Premium customer service. Since I reached a fantastic agreement with my shipping manager, prices are similar or even below most non-express shipping costs. Transit time is usually less than a week, but may vary depending on the destination country. Although almost all recently shipped orders arrived on time, please take into account that during the outbreak some shipments may be delayed. 

Please note that this is a heavier and bulkier pedal than most, so shipping costs are bit more expensive. Express Shipping costs for 1 pedal: USA/Canada 35EUR, Spain/Portugal 6EUR, Europe (EU) 18EUR, Europe (Non-EU) 29EUR, Asia/Oceania 55EUR

Combined orders will have the shipping costs reduced for the 2nd and/or successive pedals.

+ Any import duties, taxes, or customs fees are not included in the product price or shipping costs. As you know, these charges are the buyer’s responsibility. USA customers: FYI, Goods valued at US$800 or less can enter duty-free into the US. South Korea and New Zealand customers: Ask me for the FTA-signed invoice to reduce import fees thanks to SK/NZ-EU commercial agreements.

+ Customers from the UK after Brexit: As of January 1st, you may noticed a drop in the price of all my pedals, as the 21% EU VAT is no longer applied to UK orders. However, please note that with the new Brexit regulations, and based on what my recent UK customers reported, UK Customs may charge you 20% VAT and a £12 admin fee. Some reported receiving the pedal at no charge, but they seem to be the exception.

+ All Decibelics pedals are covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers any manufacturer’s defects and is only applicable to the original owner. It DOES NOT cover normal wear and tear or product failure, cracking, breaking, damage, or loss caused by misuse, dropping, abuse, lack of maintenance, improper assembly, cosmetic wear, or not meeting the criteria of a manufacturer’s defect.

+ Sales are final. This item is sold As-Described and cannot be returned unless it arrives in a condition different from how it was described.
